Janet Schmitt

Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Operations

Janet Schmitt joined the University of Tennessee Volunteer family in March 2019.  She has over 30 years of higher education experience working in Housing & Residence Life, Financial Aid and Scholarships and Enrollment Management working at Ball State University, Memphis State University, Missouri State University.  Prior to joining UT, she served as Director of Enrollment Management & Marketing at Sinclair Community College, a large urban institution with an annualized headcount of over 29,000 students.  She received a BS in Business Administration and MBA both from Murray State University.

Janet is a first generation college graduate from a tiny hometown in southern Illinois and has a deep passion for ensuring all individuals have the access to lifelong learning and support for achieving their dreams and goals.   She enjoys rooting for both the Racers and the Volunteers, is a proud mom to 2 recent college grads and enjoys living in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains region.
