Director of First Year Recruitment
My name is Clay Alexander and I serve the University of Tennessee Knoxville as the Director of First Year Recruitment in the Undergraduate Admissions Office. I lead a team of recruiters/admissions counselors who are based both on-campus and regionally across the state of Tennessee and U.S. I am in my 26th year working in higher education, specifically in enrollment management, having served at both public and private institutions with stops at Francis Marion University (SC), Catawba College (NC), Greensboro College (NC) and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In 2015 I became a Volunteer and moved to Rocky Top with my wife Ashley and our two sons, Brayden and Blake. We live in west Knoxville and are active members of the Farragut community.
I was a first-generation college student, beginning my studies at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, NC and then transferred to complete my undergraduate degree in Recreational Management and Administration at Pembroke State University, now known as the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The foundation for my career was formed while at PSU, serving as an Ambassador and Tour Guide for the university. That experience motivated me to leave behind a career in recreation and become an admissions counselor.
I love being a Vol and representing and assisting future Vols with the application, admission and enrollment process. Go Big Orange!
