Director of the Transfer Center
Wendolyn (Wendy) Davis leads the Transfer Center with combined teams of Transfer Student Recruitment and Transfer Evaluation and Operations. Davis is responsible for developing and implementing a transfer recruitment and enrollment management strategic plan to increase enrollment of undergraduate transfer students and add to the cumulative enrollment management strategic plan including close collaboration with International Recruitment.
Davis teaches TRNS 201 – Transitioning to Rocky Top, a transfer transition course led by the Office of Academic Success First Year Programs. She also serves as an Intercultural Diversity Inventory (IDI) Advisory Board Member and Qualified Administrator (QA).
Davis comes to UT from the state of Michigan where she served as the Assistant Director of Transfer Student Services at Central Michigan University, is Past-president and former board of director’s chair of the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO). She is active in the national association, AACRAO, where she has written for the association’s Connect, a bi-weekly professional development e-newsletter and served as a session presenter at the Annual Conference. She currently serves on the Transfer and Articulation Committee and Black Caucus.
Davis holds a PhD, in Organization and Management, an MBA in Human Resource Management, a BS in Psychology and an Associate Degree in General Studies. Previous experience includes TRiO Programs, Child Welfare (International and Domestic), and Workforce Development. She is the mother of four (ages of 35 to 15) and the grandmother of three.
What inspires Davis about her work is the transfer students. “It’s not only those who enroll each semester, it is also those we have the opportunity and privilege of showing that they belong at a 4-year institution and they belong at this institution.” Davis will always be a champion for those who feel forgotten. Her work allows her to show students how they are important to us and how much we believe in them.
